Flintshire Affordable Warmth
Supported by Flintshire County Council and operated by North Wales Energy Advice Centre, this is to help ALL vulnerable households in need of assistance, and is not limited to recipients of benefits. Affordable Warmth works with other agencies to identify those in need of help and arrange a range of services.
Flintshire Affordable Warmth is able to help clients who do not qualify for other schemes or who need help that other schemes are unable to offer.
Each client receives a service personal to themselves and are asseseed on an individual basis. Where possible other sources of funding are used to stretch the crisis funding as far as possible. Measures available include insulation, repair, replacement or installation of heating systems and upgrading controls.
All clients receive a detailed energy advice visit and report. The aim is to reduce energy use by at least 50% and checks are made to ensure clients are on a tariff offering good value. Sometimes it is necessary to get involved with energy providers on clients behalf to resolve issues. This is often all that is required where the cost of energy is an issue.
135 clients received help from this scheme during the first six months of the schemes operation.
